Shaping the future of synthetic biology in Africa and beyond!

SynthImmune co-spokesperson Prof. Dr. Kerstin Göpfrich attended SBA5.0 – Engineering Africa’s Biological Future, held from October 7–9, 2026, in Accra, Ghana.

Hosted by SynBio Africa, the conference brought together scientists, entrepreneurs, policymakers, industry leaders, investors, students, and early-career researchers from across the continent and beyond.

Under the theme Engineering Africa’s Biological Future, SBA5.0 provided a platform for exchanging ideas and exploring how synthetic biology and biotechnology can contribute to shaping Africa’s future. Discussions focused on advancing responsible biotechnology, fostering innovation, and strengthening biosecurity capacities across the continent.

We are delighted to see SynthImmune represented at this international gathering and look forward to the continued exchange and collaboration across the global synthetic biology community!
