The lab of SynthImmune PI Chong Sun has published a paper in the journal Immunity entitled “Extracellular ATP-P2RY2 signaling drives intratumoral prostaglandin E2 accumulation and adaptive resistance to immunotherapy in solid tumors”.
In it, the authors describe a mechanism of immune evasion whereby tumors exploit elevated extracellular ATP in the tumor microenvironment to promote immunosuppression. These findings support P2RY2 inhibition as a broadly applicable and functionally tumor-selective strategy to overcome immune resistance and enhance the efficacy of diverse immunotherapies, with potential to extend to other therapeutic modalities.
